Nelson and I launched and have been chairing this Program since 2013. The Competition is open to graduate and undergraduate students, who are members of the IEEE Communications Society. Its purpose is to recognize students or teams of students who demonstrate the capacity to improve the lives of people, through the application of communication technology and the development of projects that meet the human needs of people. The First Prize consists of $2000 + plaque. Winner(s) will be invited to receive it at IEEE GLOBECOM 2018, Abu Dhabi. IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM) is one of the IEEE Communications Society’s two flagship conferences dedicated to driving innovation in nearly every aspect of communications. These activities are realized through IEEE GLOBECOM’s multiple diversified and exciting programs. This 5-day event includes several keynote speeches by distinguished speakers from industry, academia and government sectors; panels and forums; technical sessions featuring technical papers extensively reviewed by peers; workshops focusing on the latest trends in various technology; tutorials delivered by experts in respective disciplines; exhibits; an awards luncheon; and a relaxing and entertaining banquet. IEEE GLOBECOM 2018 will be held in will be held in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirate (UAE). Abu Dhabi is a diverse modern city with cultural and entertainment attractions for visitors from all around the worlds.
